HARRISBURG - Representative Joe Adams, a Republican from Pike/Wayne, has announced that he will not be seeking re-election to represent the 139th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. The announcement comes as a surprise to many, as Adams has been a dedicated public servant for the past nine years.

In a statement released today, Adams expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Pike and Wayne counties. He stated, "It has been an honor to serve you, the citizens of Pike and Wayne counties, in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Civic duty and public service have been my life for the past nine years, after a private sector career, and I have tried my very best in giving all possible energy and ability to serve our wonderful community and its people."

Adams went on to explain that recent medical news has caused him to reevaluate his priorities. He said, "There are turning points in our lives, though, that solidify decisions to change our focus. We recently received some medical news that has changed my focus. Taking care of my family, understandably, must now be my priority." Adams made it clear that his decision not to seek re-election is motivated by personal circumstances and not by any dissatisfaction with his role as a legislator.

While Adams will not be running for re-election, he assured the community that he will continue to work locally to support its organizations, businesses, and people. He expressed his gratitude for his exceptional staff and wished his colleagues well in their efforts to provide the best for the Commonwealth.

Adams concluded his statement by saying, "I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to represent the great people of the 139th Legislative District." His decision not to run for re-election leaves an open seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and the race to fill that seat is sure to attract attention in the coming months.
